The Braves make two additions to the coaching staff while bringing everyone back

The Braves have had quite a run of success the past few years, and see no reason to meddle with it from a coaching perspective, as the entire top-level staff is coming back for the 2021 campaign:

The first group of faces should be familiar to Braves fans, as they’ve all been with the team for multiple seasons. They were all on the field or in the dugout during the prior, abbreviated season, with the exception of Eric Young Sr., who opted out and was replaced by DeMarlo Hale (who has since moved on to the bench coach position in Cleveland).

The second group reflects a couple of additions to the named coaching staff. Bobby Magallanes is another familiar face, as he was Gwinnett’s hitting coach in 2019. Drew French will be in the unusual position of potentially serving as bullpen coach to players older than himself. He was slated to be the pitching coach of the Astros’ Triple-A club once again in 2020 before the pandemic wiped that whole season out. Trying to connect the dots suggests that Mike Fast’s experience with French from their time in Houston may have led to the move, but I’m just guessing here.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Braves continue to prepare for the 2021 season.
