While the Atlanta Braves remain in search of an offensive upgrade to plug the hole created when Josh Donaldson signed with Minnesota, the team is also in need of rounding out its bench. The Braves on Wednesday agreed to a minor-league contract that also includes an invite to spring training with veteran infielder Yangervis Solarte according to a report by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Solarte will earn $1 million if he makes the big league roster.

Solarte played in just 28 games with the San Francisco Giants in 2019 hitting .205/.247/.315. He finished the season with a 15 game stint for the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate. He is 32 years old and a switch hitter and saw time at second, shortstop, third base and in the outfield during his stint in San Francisco.
Solarte joins Charlie Culberson as utility options who will be trying to earn their way onto the Braves’ roster.
