With the trade deadline now in the rear view mirror, the Atlanta Braves have entered the stretch run of the Major League season. Atlanta was pretty quiet leading up into the deadline. They initially struck the day before the deadline acquiring reliever Chris Martin from the Rangers. Then on deadline day, they attempted to further fortify their bullpen with the additions of Mark Melancon and Shane Green from the Tigers and Giants respectively. Atlanta wasn’t able to add an additional starter to the mix and reports suggest that they never got close to doing so.
This week’s FanPulse question asked Braves fans whether or not they approved of the team’s deadline maneuvering. Overall, 83% of the vote agreed with the moves Alex Anthopoulos made at the deadline with only 17% disagreeing.
Our national FanPulse question of the week centered on which team had the strongest deadline. Houston’s addition of Zack Greinke won in a landslide capturing 82 percent of the vote. The Dodgers came in second at 6% while the Braves and the Mets were tied for third at 4% each.
Fan confidence in the direction of the club held steady at 92% in our 20th week of voting. It was the 10th straight week that the total has been at least 90 percent or above. Looking at the rest of the NL East division, Washington came in at 55% while the surging Mets jumped from 27% to 69% in another instance of winning cures all. Philadelphia checks in at 32% while the Miami Marlins have the second best number in the division at 91%.
FanPulse voters were also asked again this week about manager Brian Snitker’s job performance. Eighty three percent of voters approve with the job Snitker is doing as the team’s manager. That is up slightly from 81% last week.
