Braves envision Ender Inciarte ‘filling in’ upon return
Inciarte’s return naturally brings the question about what his role will be going forward. Brian Snitker talked about the situation prior to Thursday’s game and said that Inciarte will be more of a bench player.
“Just filling in,” manager Brian Snitker said. “We’ll play him (Thursday), at some point give Ronald a day off. Gave Austin a day off (Thursday). I’m not going to feel like I’m forced to get him in. We’ll see how it works out.”
Kevin Gausman likely to start Sunday
The Braves likely aren’t finished tinkering with their roster. All signs point to Kevin Gausman returning to the rotation for Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals. Gausman threw a side session on Thursday and reported no issues. He went on the injured list on June 11 with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He has worked to add a slider and cutter to his repertoire during his rehab stint.
