Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Braves are not a finalist for Craig Kimbrel’s services.

While many Braves fans have been clamoring for the team to sign Kimbrel, it appears that a reunion is unlikely if Morosi’s report is accurate. The fit would seem to make sense for the Braves because their bullpen has been their weakest link to this point in the season, and signing Kimbrel would not require trading away any prospects. And now that the MLB draft is nearly complete, any team that signs Kimbrel would no longer have to forfeit a draft pick. However, there have not been any credible reports linking the Braves to Kimbrel. Now, there is at least one report saying that it is unlikely to happen.

Ken Rosenthal reported that the Cubs are making a push for Kimbrel. If the Cubs land him, the only silver lining for the Braves would be that he is not in the NL East.

The Braves, however, have been linked to possibly signing another free agent pitcher, Dallas Keuchel.
