The Atlanta Braves will try to extend a three game winning streak and keep the pressure on the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday night when they continue a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Atlanta scored 10 unanswered runs from the sixth inning on to take the opener 12-5.

Kevin Gausman will be on the mound Wednesday and looking to recover from one of the worst starts of his career. Gausman lasted just one inning in his last start allowing eight runs in a blowout loss to the Washington Nationals. That snapped a string of five straight starts where he had allowed three earned runs or less. Gausman’s ERA is inflated but his peripherals tell a better story. He was strong in two starts against the Pirates last season limiting them to just one run over 14 innings.

Pittsburgh will counter with right-hander Joe Musgrove who is looking to recover from a rough month of May. Musgrove got off to a great start this season posting a 1.64 ERA in April but things got a bit sideways in May. Over six starts last month, Musgrove has an 8.10 ERA and has allowed 38 hits in 30 innings. He allowed 11 hits and five runs over six innings in his last start against Milwaukee.
