Nick Markakis and Austin Riley hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to help the Atlanta Braves to a 5-4 win over the New York Mets. Atlanta wins their 50th game of the season and increases their lead in the NL East to 6.5 games over the Phillies.

Cubs designate CarGo; Hamels to IL
The Chicago Cubs made several roster moves on Saturday including placing Cole Hamels on the injured list. Hamels exited Friday’s start after just one inning due to pain in his side. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam this weekend to determine the severity of the injury. The Cubs also designated veteran outfielder Carlos Gonzalez for assignment on Saturday. Gonzalez was released by the Indians earlier this season.
The San Diego Padres designated RHP Matt Wisler for assignment. The Padres picked Wisler up in a trade with the Reds earlier this season. Wisler appeared in 21 games with the Padres posting a 5.28 ERA (4.11 FIP) in 29 innings.
Reliever Trevor Rosenthal has a new home after agreeing to a minor league deal with the Detroit Tigers. Rosenthal was recently released by the Nationals after an abysmal start where he allowed 16 runs in just 6 1/3 innings.
Cardinals To Place Marcell Ozuna On 10-Day IL With Finger Injury
Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna is headed for the injured list after jamming multiple fingers in a base running mishap in Friday’s game against the Padres. The team is reportedly leaning towards promoting outfielder Tyler O’Neal to take Ozuna’s place on the active roster.
