The Atlanta Braves jumped out to an early 6-1 lead but saw things fall apart late in a 9-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Atlanta finished with a split in their series in Chicago and will now head to New York for a three-game set starting on Friday.
MLB All-Star voting wrapped up on Thursday and the Atlanta Braves had two players voted in to start the 2019 MLB All-Star Game. Both Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuña Jr. will be in the starting lineup for the National League on July 9.

Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is back on the injured list and likely won’t return before August after suffering a strained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Stanton suffered the injury on Tuesday during a headfirst slide against Toronto.
The Tampa Bay Rays will call up top pitching prospect Brendan McKay to start Saturday’s game against the Rangers per a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The Angels activated shortstop Andrelton Simmons from the injured list on Wednesday. Simmons missed about a month after suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain back on May 21.
