Open Letter to Tyler Flowers

With love for the concussion-reducing mask for catchers, is there a product in development for pitchers?

I've seen these big ugly hats some pitchers use. I'm glad they exist, but that's not the future.

An easy option is to just upgrade the fabric to one that absorbs and displaces more energy. It wouldn't solve the problem, but you could probably reduce energy exchange to the head by 20% and get the hats adopted in every league based on the minimum required adjustment. Imagine reducing the worst blows 20% while reducing the number of softer blows that become concussions.

A less easy option might be something like scale-armor approach in which small plates are woven into the hat.

An advanced option would be to use the type of Piezoelectric fabric they're testing as bulletproof material. This is a material that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy then triggers another material that goes rigid when electrified. The idea that you'll end up with a soft fabric that turns hard when struck. There's been hope this could create bullet-proof hats.

Watching Newcomb get hit with a 104 mph ball today, it just stunned me that there's really no great solution for pitchers. So I'm throwing the few ideas I have your way, Tyler Flowers. And I'm inviting a full on collaboration session below -- what are the best ideas?!

A new product for pitchers would be on-brand for Force-3, and I'm trying to motivate extra by T'ing up a marketing narrative.

If you want to see changes to the pitcher's cap, rec and share this post! Share your ideas!
