Ozzie Albies has Pirates singin’ the blues with walk-off double as Braves win 8-7
The Braves got big hits from Austin Riley, who homered in the ninth inning to tie the game, and Ozzie Albies, who doubled in the 11th inning to score Riley and walk-off the Pirates for an 8-7 win. Mike Soroka was unusually hittable, but the offense was good enough to overcome his hiccup to overtake the Phillies for sole possession of first place in the NL East.
SunTrust Park will eventually bear ‘Truist’ moniker due to bank merger
The merger of banking giants SunTrust and BB&T has created some discussion around the Braves due to the naming rights to their stadium, SunTrust Park, being in question. On Wednesday those questions were answered in a sense, as “Truist” was announced as the name of the bank. The Braves will apparently be saddled with that moniker on their ballpark, according to reports.
As you may know, the Braves’ current ballpark is named SunTrust Park, which doesn’t reflect the franchise’s unyielding faith in our solar system’s star, but rather the name of one of the 20 largest bank holding companies in the United States. However, that bank holding company merged with another large bank holding company, and today they’ve chosen a new name, as reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
