How was your first TC impression?

A comment in today's News feed post got me curious about just what was my first ever comment on Talking Chop. Would I be embarrassed by it now?

Does the comment stand well on it's own, or does it require context of the discussion at the time?

Was it a statement of fact or an adamant opinion? Does it stand up against hindsight or has time shown you were being foolish?

Was it a joke? Was it well received then, but would fall flat now? Did you hear crickets then but today you'd hear a roaring laughter? Or is it one of those bad jokes that in no time frame will receive more than radio silence?

I joined Talking Chop on June 14th, 2013. It took two months before I got off the sidelines with this comment followed by 17 months of being a wallflower again. This is a comment that very much needs to be read in full context, cause otherwise a fan openly wishing a team forfeit games is not a good sight. However, this was an attempt at a joke regarding the string of injuries the Braves had endured while playing the Mets (Hudson's broken ankle, Heyward broken jaw, and Beachy's TJ injury causing a broken career) in a season pretty much assured of a postseason birth.

COMMENT 2 REPLIES, 2 RECS

Next Series vs. Mets

I would fully support either forfeiting all 3 games in early September against the Mets or using our September call ups to field a team of oraginizational filler against the Mets so as to not risk injury to any other players who would be playoff contributors.

Much like most of my jokes, it was received with what can best be described as a modest chuckle. Looking back, probably not the worst first impression as the Mets seemed to have voodoo dolls of Braves players and the Braves didn't need to subject any other important pieces to that evil. Maybe they were upset cause the Braves didn't have Kelly Johnson to trade to them that year? Ok, enough with the bad jokes.

So what about you? What was your first comment, and how does it look now?
