Ender Inciarte doubled home a pinch-running Max Fried in the tenth inning to help the Atlanta Braves to a 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins. With the win, the Braves complete the sweep and get off to a 3-0 start on their road trip.

Julio Teheran turned in one of his best starts of the season. He cruised through the first three innings before working out of jams in the fourth and sixth innings. He’d exit the game after six having allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four. Teheran threw 103 pitches with 63 going for strikes.

The Braves would get on the scoreboard in the seventh when Nick Markakis jumped on a high 0-2 fastball from Drew Steckenrider and drove it out to right to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead.

The lead wouldn’t hold up however as the Marlins answered back in the eighth. Jerry Blevins retired pinch hitter Peter O’Brien for the first out of the inning before giving way to Josh Tomlin. Tomlin then allowed three straight singles to Jon Berti, Martin Prado and Brian Anderson, the last of which scored Berti to tie the game. Tomlin would recover getting Neil Walker to bounce into an ending inning double play to keep the game tied at 1-1.

The Braves would strike again against the Marlins bullpen in the tenth. Pinch hitter Josh Donaldson worked a lead off walk against Miami reliever Tayron Guerrero and was replaced by Max Fried as a pinch runner. Ender Inciarte then worked the count to 1-1 and squared to bunt before pulling back and poking a line drive down the third base line for a double that scored Fried to put the Braves in front 2-1. Fried would have been dead at the plate but Chad Wallach couldn’t handle the throw as Fried made a head first dive and scored.

Charlie Culberson provided some insurance with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Inciarte to make it 3-1.

Luke Jackson came on to close things out and struck out Isaac Galloway to start the inning before Peter O’Brien doubled off the roof at Marlins Park. Jackson recovered to strike out Berti and then got Prado to fly out to Markakis in right to end the game. Since allowing four runs on Opening Day, Jackson has now made 14 straight scoreless appearances.

With the win, Atlanta improves to 18-16 on the season. They will head west Sunday night and will continue their road trip on Monday in Los Angeles where they will open a three-game set against the Dodgers.
