Here are the lineups and relevant (tiny sample) Statcast data for tonight’s Game Two between the Braves and Marlins.
The big news for the Braves, of course, is that Johan Camargo is getting his first start of the year at third base. In Camargo’s only other start this year, he came up huge and delivered a massive come-from-behind blow — what does fate have in store for the 25-year-old Panamanian tonight? Josh Donaldson’s absence from the lineup creates a void in the lineup’s two-hole, which is being filled by Ozzie Albies tonight. Albies enters the game with the second-highest xwOBA on the team against right-handed pitchers among the regulars, behind his best bud, the man hitting cleanup for the Braves tonight. (Tyler Flowers is technically tops on the team with a .562 xwOBA against righties, but that’s courtesy of just nine PAs.) While it’s probably too early for even xwOBA to mean much of anything, this move will at least give Albies a chance to see whether he can keep it up for (maybe) an extra plate appearance in the game.
For the Marlins, the lineup remains unchanged from last night. This is actually the first time (assuming no late-hit replacements or swaps) that the Marlins will use a lineup they’ve already deployed once. Even batting order aside, it’s the first time that the Marlins will use the same eight players as they’ve done previously. Let’s hope the results are the same as they were last night, with their lineup being shut down by the Braves’ arms once again.
Neither Alcantara nor Wright have faced any member of the opposing roster to date, so (un?)fortunately, there’s no opportunity for me to provide small-sample silliness batter versus pitcher stats here, either.
