Nuclear Take: The Braves need to get a new manager

This is not just a hot take, oh no this is a nuclear take. The Braves won 90 games last season and overachieved according to the experts and made the playoffs. And Brian Snitker won NL manager of the year and I'm not going to say he is a bad manager because he isnt. He is a great players manager and the players live playing for him and he stands up for his players Like in the Game last year after Urena did the punk move and plunked Acuna and almost costing him his season. Snitker took up for his player and you could see that he cares for his players.

But my main issue is with the tactician Brian Snitker and in particular how he handles his bullpen. Look at the series last year against Boston and the Diamondback series this season and tonight's game. He is of the "Old School" mind of coaching and he keeps guys in there "because he wants to show confidence in his pitchers ". But this philosophy has already cost the Braves 3 games this season. And I know that management didn't do anything to help remedy the bullpen but when you have a pitcher walk the bases loaded twice with in a week without getting anyone out then that falls on the manager as much as Jesse Biddle. To just sit on your thumbs while you pitcher is basically begging to be taken out is unacceptable.

And the thing is yea it's only April but games in April count the same as games in September. And this has me thinking that perhaps you cant teach an old dog new tricks. And with all the advance metrics and analytics out there we still have a manager approaching the game like it was still the 50s. So the question is can this team actually win a championship with someone like Snitker managing?

I'm going to say no. Now don't get me wrong, this team is very talented and the offense is outstanding. But it seems like the Braves are playing with 1 arm tied behind their backs and they are having to overcome their manager and the bullpen in order to win games. And if the Braves are limited by their manager then shouldnt change.

Look at sports history and you will see examples (such as Phil Jackson replacing Doug Collins, Steve Kerr replacing Mark Jackson, Jon Gruden Replacing Tony Dungy, Terry Francona replacing Grady Little, Alex Cora replacing John Ferrell) of winning managers/coaches being replaced in order to reach a Championship level. And right now we need something different than the standard "Brave way" of managing and we need a new analytical manager who plays match ups and puts wins over relief pitchers feelings and confidence. So let me ask you this question yes or no do you think the Braves will win a championship with someone like Snitker managing?

And if the answer is no then let's quit wasting time and get someone who can help us win.
