Washington rails Atlanta in game one
The Nats got the best of the Braves in game one behind an offensive outburst and Jefry Rodriguez’s best game as a major leaguer on the mound. The Braves sadly did lose Max Fried to a groin injury after he was hit with a line drive in the second inning.
Braves get sweet revenge in game two
The day was not a complete loss for Atlanta as the Braves got a strong performance from Sean Newcomb and Charlie Culberson supplied the power in an impressive show against Max Scherzer. The Nationals continue to hover just above .500 and the Braves will have a chance to secure at least a series split today with a win.
Max Fried and Shane Carle hit the DL
Not only did Max Fried hit the DL after game one yesterday, but Shane Carle joined Fried as well. The Braves recalled Wes Parsons and Adam McCreery to fill their spots as everyone holds their breath to make sure neither of these crucial pieces are out long term.
Kolby Allard gets nod as 26th man for yesterday’s games

Jacoby Ellsbury undergoes hip surgery
The 34-year-old Ellsbury is the third highest paid player on the Yankees roster and is now out for at least six months. This effectively ends Ellsbury’s season as New York most likely continues to kick themselves for signing that contract.
Former Braves great Bartolo Colon is now the owner of the most wins by a Latin born pitcher and continues to go on strong at the ripe age of 45 years old. This season could end up being Colon’s last gasp though as he owns a 5.18 ERA and 5.22 FIP in 22 games.
