Julio Teheran looks to wrap up series sweep of Pirates

The Braves have a chance to sweep Pittsburg after being swept by Colorado.

2018 has not been the easiest year for Julio Teheran to navigate so far, but it would appear he is finding a way to pull everything back together again.

There has not been a more inconsistent pitcher in the big leagues this season than Teheran for sure. At times he seems untouchable and other days he gets smacked around, but over the last three games Julio’s strikeout numbers and walk numbers are both headed in the right direction and as a result he’s getting deeper into games. He’ll have a chance today to improve even more against a sub-par Pirates offense that has produced just 6 runs in their last 60 innings.

His opponent will be Trevor Williams who is a promising young pitcher for the Pirates with a 3.53 ERA and 4.30 FIP this season. Williams has only allowed 3 runs in his last 6 starts, but he isn’t striking people out at a high rate. In fact, Williams has only struck out 86 batters in 130 innings this year which could play into the Braves hands as they enjoy putting the ball in play early and often.

It should be another fun pitching matchup between two guys at very different turning points in their careers.
