Gwinnett Stripers 2, Buffalo Bisons 4
- Michael Reed, LF: 1-4, HR, RBI, .374/.473/.581
- Sean Kazmar, 2B: 2-4, RBI, .252/.293/.314
- Kyle Wright, SP: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 2.81 ERA
Kyle Wright was excellent again for Gwinnett, but the bullpen faltered as the Stripers fell to Buffalo by the score of 4-2. Wright has really blossomed since his promotion to Gwinnett as three of his four starts in Triple-A have resulted in him giving up two earned runs or less. His command, in particular in the latter portions of his starts, has improved significantly as well. Miguel Socolovich came on in relief and promptly gave up two earned runs in the 8th inning which proved to be the decisive runs. Philip Pfeifer finished the game out with an inning of scoreless relief.
The offense was relatively quiet with a solo homer from Michael Reed being the primary highlight. Reed has been awesome in Gwinnett with an OPS north of 1.000 and showing multiple tools. One wonders if he will get another look in the majors with the Braves as he has a lot of versatility off the bench. Austin Riley had the day off as he looks to get back on track, especially in terms of power production, as the minor league season winds down.

Florida Fire Frogs 5, Lakeland Flying Tigers 0
- Drew Waters, CF: 2-4, 2B, run, HBP, .256/.301/.321
- CJ Alexander, DH: 3-4, BB, SB, run, .357/.372/.452
- Tucker Davidson, SP: 7.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 4.41 ERA
Florida had everything going right on Sunday as they took down Lakeland by the score of 5-0. Tucker Davidson was excellend as he pitched into the 8th inning and gave up just three hits. Tucker has certainly had his struggles this year, but he has been quite good lately as he has given up two earned runs or less in seven of his past 10 starts. It is going to be important to monitor his walk rate going forward, but he is still very much a prospect to keep an eye on.
Drew Waters had a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot in addition to being hit by a pitch. He has now hit safely in five straight games down in Florida. CJ Alexander reached base four times in the game as he has not missed a beat since being promoted. All the guy has done since the Braves drafted him is hit, although the power production that some expected from him hasn’t come quite yet. William Contreras had a hit and an RBI as he looks to get out of a bit of a funk he has been in of late.
Rome Braves 3, Delmarva Shorebirds 2
- Justin Dean, CF: 3-4, 2 runs, .300/.391/.417
- Trey Harris, RF: 2-4, run, .242/.316/.333
- Alan Rangel, SP: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 3.96 ERA
Rome got a strong start from Alan Rangel and they held on to secure a win over Delmarva by the score of 3-2. Rangel was great as he gave Rome seven scoreless innings while striking out seven batters and walking none along the way. Troy Bacon came on in relief and gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning before settling down and closing out the win for the Braves.
Justin Dean continued his strong work for Rome has he had three hits out of the leadoff spot for Rome to extend his hitting streak to six games. Drafted in the 17th round of the 2018 draft, Dean has been a pleasant surprise as he has hit both in rookie ball as well in full season ball. Jefrey Ramos had a double and an RBI and AJ Graffanino, who has put up an .839 OPS since being promoted to Rome, had a hit and an RBI of his own.
Danville Braves 12, Burlington Royals 7
- Nick Shumpert, CF: 4-5, 3B, 2 RBI, 3 runs, .239/.300/.393
- Ricardo Rodriguez, C: 3-5, 2 RBI, run, .236/.333/.327
- Dilmer Mejia, SP: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 2 K, 2.71 ERA
The offense for Danville broke out in a big way as the Braves beat Burlington by the score of 12-7. Dilmer Mejia struggled in his start as he walked six batters while only recording four outs in the game. Fortunately, the offense had his back as Nick Shumpert, Ricardo Rodriguez, Luis Mejia, Nick Vizcaino, and Michael Mateja all had 3+ hit games. Six different Danville players drove in runs including a pinch hit solo home run from Justin Smith.
