The #Braves today returned LHP Sam Freeman from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list. In order to make room on the active roster, the club optioned LHP Kolby Allard to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) August 19, 2018
Freeman has struggled this season and was placed on the disabled list in late July due to shoulder inflammation. He made three rehab appearances, one with Low-A Rome and two more at Gwinnett allowing two hits and one run over 2 2/3 innings.
Freeman has appeared in 49 games with Atlanta this season posting a 5.45 ERA in 39 2/3 innings.
Allard will rejoin Gwinnett’s rotation after struggling in three big-league appearances. He allowed 19 hits and 11 earned runs in just eight innings.
