The Atlanta Braves will try to avoid a sweep on Sunday and wrap up a long homestand on a good note against the Colorado Rockies. The Braves suffered a devastating loss Saturday night when leading 3-0 with two outs in the ninth, A.J. Minter allowed three runs to force extra innings where the Rockies prevailed 5-3.
The Braves will turn to Anibal Sanchez on Sunday who will look to put an end to the losing skid. Sanchez allowed seven hits and four earned runs over five innings in his last start against the Miami Marlins. He surrendered a two-run home run to J.T. Realmuto and hurt his own cause with a throwing error while fielding a sacrifice bunt.
Despite that rough outing, he has allowed just five runs over 13 innings in three August starts.
Colorado will counter with right-hander German Marquez who is putting together his best month of the season. Marquez allowed three hits and one run over seven innings last time out against the Astros. He struck out seven and walked just two. In three starts this month, he has allowed six runs over 20 innings while striking out 26 batters.
