The Marlins intentionally hit Acuña in the first inning after he launched four homers in three games against the lifeless cellar dwellers this week.

The Braves and Ronald Acuña Jr. received encouraging news following Wednesday’s 5-2 victory as X-rays taken on the star outfielder’s elbow came back negative. Acuña also underwent a CT scan, and the results of that test will be announced on Thursday.

While everyone will continue to hold their breath until the results of the CT scan are announced, numerous Braves beat writers said it doesn’t seem to be a serious injury. Acuña might miss a few games as he deals with soreness and discomfort, but (obviously) things could’ve been much worse as Atlanta tries to win its first division title since 2013.

The Marlins denied intentionally throwing at Acuña during postgame interviews, although that was to be expected. Jose Ureña should be facing a lengthy suspension for his chickenshit antics on the mound. The pitch that drilled Acuña was one of the hardest balls Ureña has ever thrown in the big leagues, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

The Braves will begin a four-game series with the Rockies on Thursday night.
