The Braves have made some moves to sure up the bullpen leading into the weekend series with the Brewers. After a very memorable debut, Wes Parsons has been optioned back to Triple-A Gwinnett. Parsons filled in quite admirably after an injury shortened start by Anibal Sanchez, providing the team with five much needed innings. Joining him will be Adam McCreery who also debuted that same game, striking out a pair in a single frame while giving up two earned runs.
The #Braves today selected the contract of RHP Chad Sobotka from Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled LHP Chad Bell from the Stripers. Sobotka will wear No. 61 and Bell will be No. 50.

Replacing the two of them will be Chad Sobotka and Chad Bell. Sobotka has pitched in three different levels this year - starting the year in Florida. On the season he is 4-3 with a 2.14 ERA, 1.024 WHIP, 12.3 K/9, and 4.6 BB/9 rate. Chad Bell makes his return to the big leagues after pitching 31 games for Detroit where he had a 7.11 ERA and 1.837 WHIP. Bell hasn’t had the greatest 2018 season - having gone 2-3 with a 4.63 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, .270 BAA, 8.9 K/9, and 2.9 BB/9 rates. With the big league staff having been recently hit hard by the injury bug, expect a lot of these types of transactions this week while Atlanta tries to shuffle in fresher arms.
