One of the Braves top arms in the minor leagues is about to be one step closer to the major leagues.

The last few days have been a whirlwind in the minor leagues. With the reporting that Kolby Allard is supposed to be making his major league debut on Tuesday and other players been mentioned in trade rumors such as Luiz Gohara, there are going to be a lot of moving pieces in the minors.

Well, while it seems pretty certain that Kolby will at the very least not be in Gwinnett for his next start (likely to make his major league debut), that leaves an open spot at Triple-A. It looks like Kyle Wright is headed there.

Wright was selected with the 5th overall pick in last year’s draft and is among the more highly regarded pitching prospects in the Braves’ loaded farm system. While he has had some hiccups this year, he has still posted a 3.70 ERA and 3.42 FIP in 2018 while striking out nearly a batter an inning. Moreover, he has been much better than that lately.

This move isn’t one that a team makes if a guy is just making a spot start in the majors (in Allard’s case) so the next couple of days will be interesting as we see what the Braves’ plans are going forward with the trade deadline looming.
