The Giants’ offense exploded for the second straight night as the Braves fell by a score of 11-2. Brandon McCarthy lasted just 3.1 innings and gave up eight runs. Nick Markakis was the lone bright spot for Atlanta as he stayed hot recording three more hits and extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games.
The Braves recalled Lucas Sims prior to Saturday’s game and he was pressed into duty early allowing three hits and two runs over 3.2 innings in relief of McCarthy. He struck out six and walked just one.
Sims replaced Max Fried on the roster who was sent back to Triple-A where he will rejoin Gwinnett’s rotation.
“[Fried] needs to go down there and pitch, not be up here mopping up games for us,” Snitker said. “He provided the length, but it gets to the point where you’ve got to do something.”

The White Sox placed second baseman Yoan Moncada on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday due to a strained hamstring.
Twins catcher Jason Castro was also placed on the disabled list Saturday because of a right knee injury. Castro is expected to miss several weeks after suffering a right knee meniscus tear.
