Join us here tonight as Anibal Sanchez returns to the Braves tonight to battle Steven Matz & the New York Mets.
This will be Sanchez’s first start since April 13, as he has been sidelined with a freak hamstring injury. The Braves’ bullpen would certainly appreciate a deep outing from Sanchez, as they combined to log 7⅔ innings over the course of yesterday’s doubleheader.
The forecast in Atlanta is calling for scattered showers, but what once looked like a devastating storm has relented slightly and it looks like this game should be played with minimal interruption.
To maintain their standing as the top team in the NL East, the Braves will need some help from the Orioles (against the second-place Nationals) and the Dodgers (against the third-place Phillies). If everything falls in the Braves favor, they could be working with 1½ game cushion at the top of the division by night’s end.
