(7-6) Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 3, (5-6) Gwinnett Stripers 6
Ronald Acuña, LF: 1-4, BB, 2-K (.182)
Johan Camargo, SS: 3-5, 2B, 2R, RBI, K (.303)
Dustin Peterson, RF: 2-4, 2-2B, RBI, K (.231)
Rio Ruiz, 3B: 1-4, RBI, K (.268)
Max Fried, SP: 5.1IN, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 4K (1PO)
Max Fried faced off against former Brave David Hale. After a shaky first inning in which Fried gave up 2 hits, 1BB and a run, he really settled into a very nice groove until the 6th inning. After a walk and a single, Fried was pulled for Miguel Socolovich. And while Socolovich did a nice job preventing a big inning he did walk a batter and then hit the next batter which allowed a runner to score.
On offense, Acuña led off the game with a single and Camargo immediately knocked him in after doubling. Acuña is still likely pressing having 6 multi strikeout games in 11 games this season, and has recorded a strikeout in 10 of those games. It would be nice to for him to show more patience before getting the call.
Johan Camargo and Jesse Biddle were both recalled to the Atlanta Braves.

Tyler Neslony, RF: 0-4, RBI, 2-K (.319)

Austin Freakin’ Riley hit 2 triples. Just wow! I’m not sure we’ll ever witness this feat again. Outside of Riley, most of the damage was done by Luis Valenzuela and Tyler Marlette, who combined to drive in 5 runs.
Austin Riley went 3-for-4 with 2 triples, 2 runs, and 2 RBI. He is hitting .370/.420/.739 to start the season. Here is triple #1 pic.twitter.com/uTpBCS8p0A

Michael Reed was hit by a pitch and was removed from the game. Travis Demeritte came in to replace him going 1-3.
This feels like another game where Touki’s stats aren’t as bad as they seem. After giving up back to back singles to start the first, the 1 run he gave up came on a sac-fly. Touki gave up a solo HR in the 2nd. Then in the 5th inning after getting the first 2 batters out he gave up a double and then a 2 run HR, and was immediately replaced by Michael Mader. Touki only gave up a single walk, which was completely my fault. I started watching the game with that batter and so of course Touki walked him. I stopped watching after that and Touki didn’t walk another batter. So far this season, Touki’s early issues is that his fly ball rate has increased from around 40% to 53% (stats on Fangraphs don’t include this game), while his ground ball rate has fallen from 36% last season to 13% this season. Maybe he’s leaving too many fastballs elevated, but hopefully that’s something he can correct, cause it’s showing up on the box score with the amount of doubles and home runs he’s serving up.
Also, the bullpen today did a phenomenal job.
Next Game: 4/19 vs (6-7) Pensacola Blue Wahoos @ 8:00 PM ET
Probable Starters
MIS: Wes Parsons (0-0, 1.35 ERA)
PNS: Jesus Reyes (0-2, 9.45 ERA)
(6-6) St. Lucie Mets 6, (5-8) Florida Fire Frogs 7
Cristian Pache, CF: 2-5, 2-2B, R, K (.264)
Brett Cumberland, DH: 1-5, R (.250)
Jared James, LF: 3-4, 2B, 3B, HR, 3-RBI, 3-R, BB, K (.362)
Alejandro Salazar, 2B: 3-5, 2-RBI (.292)
Jordan Rodgers, 3B: 2-5, 2B, RBI, 2K (.194)
Tucker Davidson, SP: 4IP, 3H, 2ER, 2BB, 4K
Tucker Davidson was solid yet unspectacular, but much improved over his last start where he didn’t make it out of the 3rd inning. The bullpen came in and blew the game, but a ground ball by Alejandro Salazar scored Jared James in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.
The player of the game goes to Jared James who was a single shy of the cycle. Jared James played all of 2017 in AA holding his own, so it certainly begs the question on why he was put in High-A. Hopefully he’ll get a promotion and soon because he deserves it. He’s showing he has nothing left to prove in High-A.
Next Game: 4/19 vs (6-6) St. Lucie Mets 6:31 PM ET
Probable Starters
FLO: Joey Wentz (0-0, 1.00 ERA)
STL: Gabriel Llanes (1-1, 6.43 ERA)
(8-5) Rome Braves 8, (3-10) Asheville Tourists 5
Drew Waters, CF: 1-5, 2B, R, K (.250)
Derian Cruz, 2B: 2-4, HR, RBI, 2-R, BB, SB (.209)
Drew Lugbauer, C: 1-5, 3K (.175)
Garrison Schwartz, LF: 2-4, 2-RBI, BB, K (.275)
Isranel Wilson, RF: 2-4, 2B, 2-RBI, R, SB (.119)
Griffin Benson, 1B: 2-5, 2B, RBI, 2K (.211)
Bruce Zimmerman, SP: 5IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 7K
Jacob Belinda, RP: 2IN, 1H, 0ER, 0BB, 4K
Derian Cruz hit his 1st home run of the season and had himself a very nice all around game. A total of 6 players had multi hit games, and 6 different players drove in at least one run. Every player pitched in on offense.
This was Bruce Zimmerman’s best game as a Brave, and what a fine pitching performance it was. He got shelled his last time out giving up 7 runs, and then spun a gem striking out 7 and not allowing a runner to score. Now the bullpen gave up 5 runs, but the Braves offense made sure that Zimmerman would get the win.
