Another Braves outfield prospect earns praise

Jeff Morris

Atlanta Braves outfield prospect Cristian Pache is someone that we may hear a lot more about in 2018. Pache spent 2017 at Rome where he hit .281/.335/.343 in 119 games. However, it is his defense in center field that is turning heads and he was included as part of MLB Pipeline’s All-Defensive team for 2018.

Here is what Jim Callis had to say about Pache.

Braves überprospect Ronald Acuna can do almost anything on the diamond, including play quality defense in center field, but he’ll eventually have to cede the position. That’s because Pache’s blazing speed and fine instincts allow him to cover more ground in the outfield than perhaps any other prospect. He also has plus arm strength, unusual for his position, and used it to top the low Class A South Atlantic League with 17 assists last summer.

He is joined by the NationalsVictor Robles and Texas’ Leody Tavares in the outfield.

Pache came in ninth on Talking Chop’s mid-season prospect list and figures to be one of the most talked about prospects in the Braves’ system in 2018.
