Nothing to see here, move along

Astros acquire Gerrit Cole from Pirates

The Astros added another quality arm to the rotation acquiring Garrit Cole from the Pirates in exchange for Joe Musgrove, Colin Moran, Michael Feliz and Jason Martin. Cole has two more seasons of team control before he will qualify for free agency.

Twins sign Addison Reed to 2-year deal

Minnesota continues to rebuild its bullpen with the addition of Addison Reed on a two-year deal that is worth just under $17 million. The Twins signed Fernando Rodney and Zach Duke earlier this offseason. Reed posted a 2.84 ERA in 76 innings with the Mets and the Red Sox last season.

Padres sign Brad Hand to three-year extension

Brad Hand is coming off of a career-season with the Padres and will be sticking around San Diego a bit longer. Hand and the Padres have come to agreement on a three-year deal worth a reported $19.75 million. The deal also reportedly includes a club option for a fourth season. Hand put up a 2.16 ERA in 79.1 innings with the Padres last season.

Mets to sign Adrian Gonzalez

The Mets have an agreement with former Dodgers’ first baseman Adrian Gonzalez according to a report by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Gonzalez was part of the Matt Kemp trade with the Braves but was designated for assignment upon arrival. Gonzalez will apparently compete with prospect Dominic Smith for the team’s first base job.
