The trade market for Jaime Garcia has not cooled off at all after the deal with the Twins seemingly fell through.

Over the last 48 hours or so, it has been a rollercoaster ride in terms of the fate of Jaime Garcia. It appeared as though the Braves were very close to trading Garcia to the Minnesota Twins for, at the time, an unknown prospect.

However, the talks stalled as concerns over medicals on the players involved seemed to be the major hang up. With Jaime’s medical history, the conclusion many reached was that there were issues with Garcia’s medical reports that spooked the Twins. As it turns out, that was not the case as it was the prospect in question was the cause of the issue.

Burdi is an interesting prospect with a good fastball/power slider combination, but after having to undergo Tommy John, the Braves clearly wanted a closer look at his medicals and did not like what they saw. All reports are that while the Braves and Twins could still reach a deal, both sides are looking elsewhere for their needs/wants.

As a result, Jaime Garcia did make his start against the Dodgers and not only pitched well against one of the better teams in the league, but showed out with the bat as he belted a grand slam and hit a pop up that the Dodger infield bumbled badly that scored two runs.

It appears that the re-emergence of Garcia on to the market, the needs of contenders for starting pitching help, and another strong performance from Garcia has some teams calling.

It is unclear what teams are still talking to the Braves and who is more interested than others, although the Royals and Astros had both been connected to Jaime in the recent past.

It still seems likely that Jaime will have a new team before the trade deadline passes especially if the bidding for his services as a rental continues to involve multiple teams. That said, the Braves are playing well and if they decide that they have a shot at the wild card...he could easily remain a Brave through the end of the season.
