UPDATE: Per Dave Cameron of Fangraphs (see here, answer at 12:21 pm), McDaniel’s changeover to this new assignment actually happened several weeks ago. Therefore, it’s unclear to what extent any of this has to do with “fallout” from the Front Office turmoil this week, and whether it’s just a coincidence that the news happened to come out publicly at the same time. Your guess is as good as mine.

The Braves bringing in fan favorite prospect guru Kiley McDaniel was a pretty joyous moment among some aspects of the Braves fandom. McDaniel first worked with recently-resigned General Manager John Coppolella back in 2005, when he was an intern in college in the Yankees system, and held the position of Assistant Director, Baseball Operations from December 2015 through today.

But, that’s all changing now.

To me, this is a bit reminiscent of the end of the first season of The Wire, where Detective Jimmy McNulty indicates that he really doesn’t want to ride the boat, and by the time the start of Season Two, there he is, riding that boat. But, it’s possible I’ve got it all wrong. After all, (some parts) of California are quiet sunny, year-round.

Stay tuned for more — this is probably not the last Front Office shakeup to transpire over the next few days or weeks.
