Local contractor taking over Atlanta Braves stadium project

Earlier this week there was a change in contractors for the Braves’ new spring training home. Sarasota-based Tandem Construction will take over the project replacing Atlanta-based Brasfield & Gorrie who were one of the primary firms in building SunTrust Park. The change in contractor is not expected to delay the project with the Braves expecting to move into their new home in time for spring training in 2019.

Astros win ALCS Game 2 behind a magnificent Justin Verlander performance and Jose Altuve’s baserunning

The Houston Astros took down the New Yankees again on Sunday thanks in large part to a dominant performance by Justin Verlander. The Astros won 2-1 on a walk-off double in the ninth by Carlos Correa. Verlander threw a complete game allowing five hits and one run to go along with 13 strikeouts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without one of their key players in the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs after shortstop Corey Seager was left off the roster due to a back injury. Seager suffered the injury on a slide in the NLDS and missed several days of workouts before the start of the championship series prompting the move.

Even without Seager, the Dodgers scored a come from behind 5-2 win over the Cubs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Clayton Kershaw but the Chicago bullpen struggled again as the Dodgers came all the way back to win.
