The Atlanta Braves head to Milwaukee riding a rare hot streak having won two straight series and eight of their last 12 games. That run is thanks to an offensive surge as Atlanta has scored 60 runs over that span including 19 over the weekend in wins over the Cardinals.
The Braves will look to keep the bats going when they open a four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night. Milwaukee enters Monday’s game 11 games under .500 for the season. The dealt catcher Jonathan Lucroy and reliever Jeremy Jeffress to Texas at the trade deadline. They clearly have their eyes on the future and Monday’s starter Zach Davies could be a big part of that.
Davies got off to a slow start this season but he has only gotten better as it has progressed. He has won 9 of his last 10 decisions and is 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA since the All-Star break. This will be his first career start against Atlanta.
The Braves will counter with right hander Rob Whalen who will be making his second career major league start. Whalen allowed four runs in the first inning of his start last week but settled down lasting five innings while picking up his first career win.
Ender Inciarte will be looking to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 19 straight games on Monday. After a slow start to the season offensively, Inciarte is slashing .376/.413/.447 since the break while providing stellar defense in the outfield. He is 4 for 12 at the plate against the Brewers this season and is a .296 hitter against Milwaukee in his career.
