The Braves came into tonight's game as the biggest single-game underdog in Las Vegas since 2007. Clayton Kershaw vs. Bud Norris, in Dodger Stadium. You'd have to wager $455 to win $100.
Norris and the Bravos held tough against baseball's best southpaw, but would eventually fall 4-0.
Kershaw only pitched six innings for the first time all year. He surrendered three hits and even walked a guy, only striking out four. His ERA is down to 1.46 on the year. Norris was pretty darn good for being a fill-in for Mike Foltynewicz; he threw five innings of one-run ball.
Justin Turner plated LA's first run with a two-out single in the third inning that brought home Kershaw, who had earlier beaten out an infield single. The score remained 1-0 until the eighth when the Dodgers beat up on Alexi Ogando and Ian Krol for three more runs.
Fun game note: second base umpire Ramon De Jesus was 0-3 in calls on stolen base attempts. What's the point of replay challenges if the umpires don't get the calls right?
The Braves will try to avoid the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 p.m. It will be Matt Wisler against Scott Kazmir on the mound.
