There have been several Braves players that have been the subject of a ton of trade rumors already this season. Not a day goes by without various discussions and fantasy proposals regarding what the Braves could hope to get for Julio Teheran from teams such as the Red Sox, Pirates, Cubs, Rangers, Astros, and basically any other teams you could think of.
Arodys Vizcaino is arguably a more plausible name that has seen his name as “on the block” as it were but with fewer specific teams being connected to him at this point. Freddie Freeman keeps getting mentioned despite being declared off limits by the Braves’ front office.
However, one name that has come up of late that is not only plausible, but likely welcome by the Braves’ front office is Bud Norris. Norris was acquired this past offseason with the likely goal of eating innings as a stopgap until some of the younger arms are ready before being traded at the deadline. While the start of his season seemed to torpedo those plans, his performance of late seems to have gotten the notice of the league.
Since a dreadful start against the Red Sox (seriously, avert your eyes from that box score) and getting demoted to the bullpen, Norris and his newfound commitment to his cutter has posted a 2.08 ERA and all of his peripheral stats have make a complete turnaround.
The Marlins had already been connected to Norris on the trade market and other cost conscious teams such as the Pirates could be in play for Norris given his cheap one year deal in addition to the slew of other teams in need of rotation help.
