After being hit by a pitch in the left hand in Sunday's game, X-rays revealed that Mallex Smith suffered a fracture of his left thumb.
Smith remained in the game to run the bases in the top half of the seventh inning, but was removed from the game after that, and the X-rays were administered at the field.
According to the team, Smith will return to Atlanta on Monday to be evaluated further.
