Aaron Blair struggled again as the Braves late comeback attempt fell just short in a 9-8 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
The Braves made a roster move prior to Monday’s series opener with the Reds placing reliever Eric O’Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list with a strained knee. The team re-called pitcher Ryan Weber to take O’Flaherty’s spot on the active roster.

Shea Simmons was scratched from a scheduled rehab appearance in Mississippi on Saturday due discomfort around his right triceps muscle. This is the second reoccurrence of the injury for Simmons who is 15 months removed from Tommy John Surgery.
Cuban infielder Yulieski Gurriel is a free agent and has been cleared to sign with any MLB team. Gurriel defected along with his brother earlier this year and will begin holding private workouts soon in hopes of landing a major league deal.
The trade deadline is just over a month away and Ryan Braun figures to be one of the biggest names available on the market. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports that the Giants have had preliminary discussions with the Brewers about a potential Braun trade but that no deal is imminent.
