The Braves go with Jeremy Walker RHP out of Gardner-Webb University. The Braves had tons of success recently going with pitchers out of small schools in last years draft that had projectability and that’s exactly what Jeremy Walker has. While his numbers aren’t great, he went 9-5 with a 3.77 ERA and 1.29 WHIP, he has great size (6’5”) and a big frame (200+ lbs).

Walker has a 3 pitch arsenal featuring a low-to-mid-90s fastball, topping out around 96, a slider and a mid-70s curveball. His mechanics need some work, and there is also the possibility cleaning them up can lead to an increase in velocity.

Walker was ranked #320 on Baseball America’s top 500 prospect sheet, and was the #18 player out of North Carolina. The Braves will likely keep him at a starter, clean up his mechanics, and see if he continues to improve and hopefully add some velocity as he did in college.

This is the last pick we will be doing full write ups on and the rest will be recapped at the end of the day.
