Williams Perez takes the mound in game 1 welcoming a Miami Marlins team who just shellacked the Tampa Bay Rays 9-1 last night. Since being sent down to Gwinnett and somehow finding a technical flaw in his mechanics that has allowed him to add a couple MPH to his fastball Perez has been solid against teams from Philadelphia. Last time out he surrendered just a pair of hits over 6.1 innings in the Braves win against the Phillies. For his career Williams has not been...good against the Marlins collecting an 0-1 record with a 6.75 ERA and 2.143 WHIP. As a team the Marlins have hit .474 against Perez with 8 extra basehits.
He squares up against Adam Conley whose track record is a bit more successful against the Braves than Perez's against the Marlins. Conley has limited this Braves roster to a 2-for-20 line surrendering a pair of singles - one by Daniel Castro, and one by Jeff Francoeur. Conley has been awful at home, but great on the road limiting opponents to just a .624 OPS. Despite being a LHP he's been dreadful against them (1.018 OPS) so expect a left handed heavy lineup.
