FanDuel Fantasy Baseball Picks: May 17

Daily fantasy baseball is fun. Join us on Tuesday.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a bit of a day in Braves Country, but maybe you want to take your mind off of Fredi Gonzalez.

SB Nation and FanDuel continue to partner on daily fantasy baseball, and we will bring you regularly scheduled lineup recommendations throughout the 2016 season. On Tuesday, we try once again to provide you with the best lineup possible to tackle a very interesting early evening slate, and the options are plentiful.

Editor's Note: New players win cash in their first league or get their entry fee refunded! Offered in partnership with FanDuel.

Let's get to the talent, while simultaneously allowing you to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Note: This lineup would be used in today's 6:10 "early only" pm ET contest.

P - Danny Salazar ($9,100)

C - Victor Martinez ($3,400)

1B - Freddie Freeman ($3,300)

2B - Jason Kipnis ($3,600)

3B - Kelly Johnson ($2,400)

SS - Manny Machado ($3,900)

OF - J.D. Martinez ($3,600)

OF - Corey Dickerson ($2,900)

OF - Eddie Rosario ($2,600)

In the interest of full disclosure, Danny Salazar is the main reason why we're playing the "early" slate instead of the full one. I absolutely love Salazar as a talent, and given a juicy match-up against Cincinnati at 6:10 pm ET, it is worth pulling the trigger. He isn't the most expensive player on this slate, but Salazar has the best match-up and his strikeout upside is off the charts.

For the lineup, I'm spreading the board considerably, including two (!) members of the much-maligned Atlanta Braves offense. To be fair, this is all about the match-up with left-handers against Juan Nicasio, but Freeman has been scalding hot and I love the value of Johnson on a sharp discount.

My big purchase is Machado against a lefty in Wade Miley, and the two members of the Tigers (Martinez and Martinez!) are there because of Mike Pelfrey. Round things out with Corey Dickerson in a platoon-friendly spot (where he's great) to go along with two similar instances with Kipnis and Rosario and call it a day.

Best of luck, everyone.
