The Atlanta Braves look for just their second series win of the season when they wrap up a three-game series on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.
Julio Teheran pitched well but fell 5-1 thanks to some shaky defense in Friday's opener. Mike Foltynewicz turned in a dominant performance on Saturday as Atlanta blanked Kansas City 5-0. Matt Wisler will take his turn for Atlanta on Sunday and will be opposed by the Royals' Danny Duffy who will be making his first start of the season.
Wisler is 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in two May starts. He blanked the Mets over eight innings allowing one hit and two walks on May 3. He threw eight more innings in his next start allowing eight hits and three runs in a 3-2 loss to the Phillies. Wisler continues to impress and has allowed three runs or fewer in four of his six starts so far this season.
The Royals will be hoping that Duffy can give them some innings on Sunday as injuries have forced them to juggle their rotation. Duffy has made 16 relief appearances this season with none lasting longer that 1 2/3 innings. He has allowed 17 hits and six earned runs over 18 innings. The Braves are hitting just .213 as a team against left handed pitchers.
