Braves have a shot at actually winning a series at home

The Braves finally picked up their second home victory of the season last night. Can they make it two in a row and also pick up a series victory in the process?

Tonight's game between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies is actually pretty important for the Braves because we could see them pick up an important achievement: A series victory at home! The Braves have had to endure mighty struggles within the confines of Turner Field so far this season, but after they picked up a 5-1 victory over the Phillies last night, they're now in position to possibly pick up a series victory, instead of having to scramble to avoid being swept. Isn't this a pleasant feeling?

One Brave in particular will be seeking a first of his own -- Aaron Blair will be taking the mound, and he'll be looking to actually get a win to his name after three relatively decent starts to kick off his career. He's only thrown 16 innings, but Blair is sitting on a 3.31 ERA and a 4.12 FIP. That's decent numbers for a rookie who's basically being thrown to the wolves this season, and hopefully he'll be able to keep the good times rolling against the Phillies tonight.

Meanwhile, one player who's rolling right now is Freddie Freeman. The Braves need him to produce in order to make sure that the offense isn't a complete dumpster fire, and while the lineup itself has still been pretty bad, Freeman has been heating up, and he was one of the reasons why the Braves were able to push their way to a rare home victory last night.

However, the Braves are going to have a pretty tough challenge on their hands when it comes to the opposing pitcher. They'll be seeing Vince Velasquez for the first time, and Velasquez has been pitching extremely well this season. Over six starts, Velasquez current has an ERA of 2.17 and a FIP of 2.73, and a K/9 of 10.61 to go with it. If he keeps that up, then it could be rough sailing for the Braves at the plate today.

Either way, this should be an interesting game to follow tonight. Again, it's nice to see that the Braves are in position to have a shot at winning a home series, and hopefully they'll be able to seal the deal and send the fans home happy for a second night in a row.
