(16-18) Gwinnett Braves 1, (18-16) Rochester Red Wings 7
Adonis Garcia, LF: 2-3, RBI, .368/.368/.368
Rio Ruiz, 3B: 0-3, .289/.367/.421
Ozzie Albies, SS: 0-3, .214/.214/.357
Kanekoa Texeira, SP: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 2.70 ERA
It was a rough offensive night for Gwinnett, as Adonis Garcia provided 2 of the 3 GBraves hits in the game. Garcia has hit in all 5 games since he returned to Gwinnett and is 7-19. Rio Ruiz has fallen on his first tough spell in AAA, as you would expect a 21 year in AAA to do, and has gone 5 games without a hit. If he can make quick adjustments to get back hitting again it will be a great indicator of his readiness for MLB and for his long term viability. Ozzie Albies went without a hit for the first time in 3 games, and also made a throwing error in the game.
Williams Perez was pulled up to Atlanta for a spot start, leaving a hole in the rotation that for the moment was filled by Kanekoa Texeira, Texeira allowed 2 runs in nearly completing 5 innings, despite having 8 hits and 3 walks to work around in the game. After a recent string of good outings, Joel De La Cruz imploded allowing 4 runs, all earned, in an inning and a third. He did not strike anyone out. Brandon Cunniff Allowed a run in his outing, and David Peterson finished the game out with a perfect inning striking out 1 batter.

CROC: David Martinez (1-2, 4.80 ERA)
Possible Gwinnett Rotation Scenarios
Kanekoa Texeira could remain in rotation. The Braves have shown a propensity to use him in that swing role and keep him as a number 5 starter for extended periods, so that wouldn't be a surprise.
A pitcher is called up from Mississippi to fill that spot in the rotation. I lean towards this one occurring with Chris Ellis getting the call, though Brandon Barker has a case and has pitched in AAA before. That leaves a hole in Mississippi's rotation, with the likely scenarios being
2a. Stephen Janas slides into Ellis's spot. Janas has started in AA before, and though he probably projects as a reliever long term I see no reason to not give him a shot as a starter.
2b. A pitcher could be called up from Carolina. The expected option here would be Max Povse, as he is by far the most ready A+ pitcher and has performed the best. In his absence I expect one of Zack Bird, Sean McLaughlin, Zach Quintana, or Wes Parsons to take his rotation spot. I don't expect any of Rome's starters are ready for Carolina yet.
(14-19) Mississippi Braves 3, (13-18) Mobile Baybears 5
Dansby Swanson, SS: 0-4, .293/.396/.488
Dustin Peterson, LF: 1-4, HR, .262/.336/.418
Johan Camargo, SS: 1-4, .272/.342/.350
Sean Newcomb, SP: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 3.96 ERA
Mississippi could not fight back from a 5-0 deficit, despite a couple of home runs from the offense. Dustin Peterson's home run was his 4th of the season, which leads all Braves Minor leaguers, and was a long home run to left field. Jordy Lara also knocked a home run on the day, with 2 other hits in the game. Dansby Swanson struggled with an 0-4 game, and also made a fielding error on the day. Johan Camargo extended his hitting streak to 7 games, and his current batting average would be his highest since rookie ball in 2013.
Sean Newcomb struggled for the first time this season, and was hurt by a terrible 5 run 3rd innings. He didn't miss any bats in the game, and allowed 2 extra base hits including a 3 run home run. He had kept the ball in the zone most of the game, and after that third inning had 40 strikes on 58 pitches with no walks, but got wild late with 17 of his final 32 pitches being balls and 2 walks. Stephen Janas had another scoreless relief appearance, and has now extended his scoreless streak to 12.2 innings.

MIS: Rob Whalen (1-3, 3.86 ERA)
MOB: Yoan Lopez (3-2, 3.10 ERA)
(13-18) Carolina Mudcats 5, (17-13) Potomac Nationals 9 F/10
Joseph Odom, C: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI, .297/.352/.516
Joey Meneses, 1B: 2-5, RBI, .330/.379/.491
Braxton Davidson, RF: 2-5, 2B, RBI, .204/.273/.287
Ryan Clark, SP: 5.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 6.53 ERA
Carolina fought back from a 5-2 deficit by scoring a run each in the bottom of the 6th, 7th, and 9th innings but ultimately watched 4 runs score in the 10th to give Potomac a 9-5 win. Joseph Odom knocked in the tying run in the 9th, but also had a home run of an odd variety in the 6th. Odom, the catcher, went down the right field line with a line drive, and when the right fielder went crashing into the stands Odom scored a stand up inside the park home run. Jordan Edgerton also had a home run in the game, this one of the traditional variety. Braxton Davidson now has 5 hits in his last 3 games. Joey Meneses has been one of the hottest hitters in the minor leagues of late. He is riding a 15 game hitting streak during which he is hitting .453/.474/.736 with 3 home runs, 10 RBI, and only 7 strikeouts. He is now 8th in the Carolina league in Batting average, hits, and slugging percentage.
As evidenced by the line, Ryan Clark struggled again in this one, and allowed 2 home runs in his start. Michael O'Neal relieved him, and allowed 1 of 2 inherited runners to score but otherwise didn't allow a run in his 1.2 innings. Chase Johnson-Mullins pitched well after a string of poor starts, pitching 2 scoreless with just a walk and 2 strikeouts. Zach Quintana attempted to hold the Nationals in the 10th, but gave up 4 runs on 2 home runs and took the loss.
