(16-16) Gwinnett Braves 3, (16-16) Rochester Red Wings 6
Jace Peterson, 2B: 0-2, 2 BB, .100/.357/.100
Rio Ruiz, 3B: 0-4, .289/.367/.421
Ozzie Albies, SS: 1-4, 2B, .222/.222/.306
Lucas Sims, SP: 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 4.91 ERA
Jace Peterson was back from paternity leave (congratulations to Jace and his wife on their newborn daughter), and drew two walks in the game. He is only 1-10 since his demotion, but has gotten on base a good bit with his 4 walks. Rio Ruiz struck out twice in the game, and now has gone 3 straight days without reaching base with a combined 6 strikeouts in 12 at bats. Fortunately Ozzie Albies has begun to heat up at the plate, and though his lack of walks thus far is concerning he has 3 extra base hits in his last 2 games.
Lucas Sims had a mediocre start in his 4th AAA start, but only walked 2 batters in 6 innings while striking out 5. He stretched out to 108 pitches with 65 for strikes, and limited Rochester to only 4 hits in the game. He was relieved by Kanekoa Texeira, who struggled to get one out and allowed 3 runs. Sean Burnett and Joel De La Cruz combined to finish off the game with 1.2 scoreless innings pitched.

(13-18) Mississippi Braves 1, (12-17) Mobile Baybears 4
Dansby Swanson, SS: 0-4, .273/.400/.455
Dustin Peterson, LF: 0-3, BB, .267/.341/.405
Johan Camargo, SS: 2-3, .263/.340/.347
Andrew Thurman, SP: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 7.06 ERA
A blazing start to the season and to AA has faded into a rough patch for Dansby Swanson, who now is hitless in his last 4 games. Today marked the end of a 15 game on base streak, and he has begun to display just how difficult the jump to AA is. Not that I worry, some guys start hot and fade, some guys start slow and rise (Albies), but in the end he will fit somewhere in the middle of all of this. Willians Astudillo knocked a hit in the game to score Mississippi's only run, and both Jacob Schrader and Johan Camargo had multi-hit games. Since a 5-30 start, Camargo is 20-65 (.308).
The biggest positive spin on the game was the performance of Andrew Thurman. Thurman had to start out in the bullpen and has perhaps been the biggest prospect disappointment this season, and seems to not have been right since the bus crash last season (2.51 ERA in A+ prior to crash, 6.36 ERA over 2 levels since). Today was a step in the right direction, as outside of a 2 run home run he was lights out for Mississippi, in particular overcoming his recent control problems in this game.

MIS: TBD (Should be Chris Ellis's turn. Pure Speculation: he has probably earned a promotion. Just saying)
MOB: Zack Godley (1-3, 5.34 ERA)
(11-20) Rome Braves 3, (14-17) Augusta GreenJackets 2
Jonathan Morales, C: 2-5, 2B, .314/.345/.438
Austin Riley, 3B: 1-5, .250/.288/.405
Bradley Keller, RF: 2-5, 2B, RBI, .203/.200/.391
Oriel Caicedo, SP: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 3.93 ERA
Bladimir Matos, RP: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 3.60 ERA
Rome dragged the game on for a while, finally winning in 13 innings. Yeudi Grullon was the hero, knocking in Bradley Keller with an RBI single to lift Rome to the win. Grullon was on in place of Ronald Acuna, who was DHing but left after 9 innings. No word on why. Acuna was 0-2 with a walk in the game. Jonathan Morales went 2-5 in the game, and Austin Riley added a hit of his own. In addition to scoring the winning run, Bradley Keller knocked in the first run of the game for Rome. Justin Ellison had the tying hit in the 7th that would eventually be what led to extra innings, and he also had a stolen base on the game.
Oriel Caicedo allowed 2 runs in his 6 inning start, but only struck out 2 in the game. The bullpen for Rome was fantastic, starting with Josh Graham's scoreless second appearance of the season. Taylor Lewis worked around a hit and 2 walks in his 2 innings of work. Perhaps the best performance was that of Bladimir Matos, who pitched 3 innings for the first time in his career and allowed 2 hits while striking out 3. Excluding 2 five-run, single-inning outings, Matos has pitched 32.2 innings in his career, allowed 6 earned runs, 19 hits, 11 walks, while striking out 35 batters. He also throws in the mid 90's with insane movement on his fastball so that's good. Trevor Belicek earned the win with a scoreless inning while striking out 2.
