Aaron Blair will make his major league debut for the Atlanta Braves on Sunday as they try to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the New York Mets. After a brief four-game winning streak, Atlanta has dropped four straight and has been outscored 14-5 by the Mets over the first two games of the series.
Blair struggled at times during spring training but locked in over three starts at Gwinnett where he was 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA. Blair allowed just 10 hits and three runs over that span.
Blair replaces Williams Perez in the Atlanta rotation after Perez failed to make it out of the fourth inning in any of his first three starts to the season.
Blair will be opposed by New York right-hander Jacob deGrom who returns to the Mets after being away earlier this week while dealing with a family emergency. deGrom struck out six while allowing one run and five hits in his only start this season. He is 2-2 against Atlanta with a 1.95 ERA in five career starts.
