Hector Olivera charged with assault & battery, Bond set

Braves outfielder Hector Olivera has been charged with one count of assault and battery.

An arrest warrant for Hector Olivera has been issued and he has been charged with one count misdemeanor assault & battery according to a report by ABC7News reporter Jeff Goldberg.

Bond for Olivera was set at $10,000 and according to Goldberg, it may be later tonight before he is able to bond out of jail.

According to a press release, police were summoned to the Ritz Carlton in Arlington, Virginia by a female who claimed to have been assaulted by a male suspect. The woman had bruising and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Olivera was arrested on site and was later charged in the incident.

ARLINGTON, Va. - On April 13, 2016, at approximately 6:51 a.m., police responded to a dispute at the Ritz Carlton located in 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. A female victim alleged that a male suspect assaulted her. The female victim had visible bruising and was transported to Virginia Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries. The male suspect remained on scene and was taken into custody. Hector Olivera, 31, of Miami, FL, was charged with assault and battery and bond was set at $10,000.
