One rough inning proved to be the difference for Matt Wisler and the Atlanta Braves who fell to 0-8 on the season with a 3-0 loss to the Nationals.

Wisler opened the game strong retiring 9 of the first 10 batters he faced before running into trouble in the fourth. Stephen Drew led off the inning with his first home run of the season to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead. Wisler then retired Bryce Harper on a fly out before walking David Murphy. Jayson Werth followed with a two-run home run to center to increase the lead to 3-0.

Wisler settled down from there and retired 8 of the next 9 batters he faced following Werth's homer. He allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over six innings of work.

Prior to the game, the Braves appeared to have caught a break when scheduled starter Stephen Strasburg was scratched due to an illness. Tanner Roark got the start in place of Strasburg and held Atlanta at bay allowing just four hits over seven shutout innings.

The Braves loaded the bases in the second but failed to score as Wisler grounded out to end the inning. Atlanta had runners at second and third with two outs in the fifth inning but Freddie Freeman was called out on strikes to end the threat. The Braves managed just five hits on the evening.

The two teams meet again on Thursday to wrap up the four-game set. Julio Teheran will be on the mound for Atlanta while the Nationals have yet to announce a starter.
