(55-51) Gwinnett Braves 3, (52-55) Durham Bulls 2

  • Eric Young Jr. LF: 3-4, R, 2B, RBI, SO, .235/.316/.325
  • Mallex Smith CF: 2-4, R, SB (15), .231/.273/.300
  • Mycal Jones DH: 1-4, R, HR (4), RBI, 2 SO, .264/.342/.426
  • Christian Bethancourt C: 0-4, RBI, 2 SO, .290/.309/.412
  • Tyrell Jenkins SP: Win (3-1), 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 4 BB, 8 SO, 2.03 ERA

The Gwinnett Braves used a strong outing from Tyrell Jenkins to get a 3-2 victory on Saturday over the Durham Bulls. Jenkins walked a few more batters than we'd like to see, but he was generating plenty of swings-and-misses on his way to 8 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The top of the order did its job in the game with Mallex Smith and Eric Young Jr. accounting for 5 of the 10 hits for the Braves and scoring 2 of the 3 runs.

(52-51) Mississippi Braves 3, (57-46) Birmingham Barons 7

  • David Rohm RF: 2-5, RBI, 2 SO, SB (4), .255/.324/.309
  • Steve Rodriguez C: 1-3, R, RBI, BB, .190/.273/.223
  • Rio Ruiz 3B: 0-2, R, 2 BB, .211/.329/.261
  • Lucas Sims SP: Loss (0-2), 2 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 8.49 ERA

A disastrous 2nd inning on the mound for Lucas Sims put the Mississippi Braves in a big hole against the Barons. Birmingham brought across all 7 of their runs in the inning to quickly erase the 1-0 deficit after a 1st inning run from the Braves. Sims would be pulled after the inning to cap off a disappointing start.

(54-52) Carolina Mudcats 3, (52-54) Wilmington Blue Rocks 1

  • Dustin Peterson LF: 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, SO, .253/.324/.358
  • Connor Lien RF: 1-4, R, RBI, .296/.349/.441
  • Johan Camargo SS: 1-2, R, BB, .259/.312/.331
  • Brandon Barker SP: Win (6-3), 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 3 BB, 4 SO, 2.91 ERA

Following suit from the AA and AAA teams, the Carolina Mudcats scored 3 runs on Saturday. Behind Brandon Barker's impressive outing, the Mudcats were able to grind out a win despite having just 6 hits in the game. All 6 hits came from a different Carolina starter. All of the damage was done in the 3rd inning, where the Mudcats would score the final 3 runs in the game to take the 3-1 win. Barker allowed just 4 hits in 6 innings of work to continue his good season and pick up his 6th win.

(44-60) Rome Braves 4, (53-51) Augusta GreenJackets 1

  • Omar Obregon 2B: 3-4, R, RBI, .273/.337/.317
  • Ozhaino Albies SS: 2-4, R, SO, .311/.370/.404
  • Wigberto Nevarez 1B: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, SO, .169/.224/.246
  • Matt Tellor DH: 2-4, 2B, 2 SO, .214/.260/.298
  • Touki Toussaint SP: Win (3-2), 6 IP, 2 H, ER, 5 BB, 4 SO, 4.93 ERA

Touki Toussaint threw 6 innings of 1-run baseball to lead the Rome Braves to a win on Saturday. Toussaint had some control issues with 5 walks, but he limited the damage with only 2 hits allowed to pick up his 3rd win of the year with Rome. Ozhaino Albies and Omar Obregon provided a nice 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup with 5 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI.

(14-19) GCL Braves 5, (12-16) GCL Yankees1 11

  • Ronald Acuna CF: 2-4, R, 2B, RBI, SO, SB (7), .274/.389/.453
  • Alejandro Salazar SS: 1-3, 2 R, BB, 2 E, .318/.390/.391
  • Colin Yelich C: 1-3, RBI, E, .265/.400/.286
  • Jaret Hellinger SP: Loss (1-2), 2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, BB, 3 SO, HR, 3.45 ERA

The GCL Braves' pitching staff got knocked around throughout the game for a 11-5 blowout against the GCL Yankees. Jaret Hellinger has been very impressive so far for the Braves, but he struggled in his 2 innings against the Yankees to pick up his 2nd loss of the year. Ronald Acuna had 2 hits including a double and his 7th stolen base to lead the offense.

(18-19) Danville Braves 11, (16-20) Bristol Pirates 4

  • Carlos Castro 1B: 4-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, .363/.389/.476
  • Austin Riley 3B: 2-6, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SO, .364/.364/.727
  • Kurt Hoekstra SS: 3-3, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB (4), .236/.346/.330
  • Leudys Baez LF: 3-6, 2 R, 2B, SO, .299/.315/.458
  • Jeff Campbell DH: 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, SO, .250/.262/.350
  • Mike Soroka SP: 4 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO, 0.00 ERA

The Danville Braves had a needed offensive explosion on Saturday with 11 runs on 17 hits against the Bristol Pirates. Among the notable standouts was Austin Riley who continues to tear up pitching. Riley had deuces wild in the game with 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 doubles, 2 RBI's, and 2 strikeouts. Carlos Castro led the team with 4 hits, and Kurt Hoekstra and Leudys Baez had 3 hits apiece. Mike Soroka had a wonderful start on the mound tossing 4 no-hit innings with 2 walks allowed and 6 strikeouts.
