Braves reliever Donnie Veal cleared waivers on Friday and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett by the club. Veal had the option of rejecting the assignment but chose not to instead returning to Gwinnett.

Veal talked about the decision on his Instagram account:

So I was just designated for assignment and cleared waivers (sent down to the minors). So basically this is what all happened... Our family now has health insurance paid for by MLB for the next year. My minor league salary is now a little bit higher. We didn't have to move our all over the country to change teams. Most importantly, I got 3 days off to spend with @mrsrealdveal and these 3 crazies! While I'm not happy about going to the Majors and being sent back down in the same week, I am grateful for all the positives that came from this situation. I can say that when u seek God first in life, he changes the way u see everything that happens in your life!

Veal was called up to the Braves on April 30 and was designated for assignment on May 5. He appeared in three games allowing four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. In 10 games at Gwinnett so far this season, Veal has yet to allow a run in 8 2/3 innings of relief.
