It is Julio Teheran day for the Atlanta Braves, and unfortunately, that statement hasn't had quite the meaning that Braves Country expects this season. Still, there is always a bit of buzz when Atlanta's "ace" takes the mound, and on Friday, Teheran faces Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins to kick off a three-game weekend set in Florida.
Teheran will be opposed by former Yankees right-hander David Phelps, who has produced some positive results this season. The 29-year-old sports a 2.90 ERA (1.23 WHIP) for the season in seven appearances (five starts) and with a spacious ballpark behind him, Phelps is capable of having success against Atlanta's lineup. Also of note is the fact that Braves outfielder Todd Cunningham is making his first Major League start, which is always an exciting time.
At the moment, nothing is going particularly well for the Atlanta Braves, as the team has lost five of its last six contests. Still, the club has sustained success against the Marlins this season, and every series begins anew. Stay tuned throughout the evening for all of the latest.
