Matt Wisler came within one out of his first career shutout as the Atlanta Braves sweep a doubleheader from the St. Louis Cardinals with a 2-0 win.

The 2015 season hasn't been kind to the Atlanta Braves but things did end on a high note. After Shelby Miller snapped a 24-game winless streak in Game 1 of Sunday's season-ending doubleheader, Matt Wisler took the mound and recorded one of his best starts of the season in a 2-0 win for Atlanta.

Wisler was in control from the outset shutting out the Cardinals over 8 2/3 innings while allowing just four hits to go along with three strikeouts. He was replaced with two outs in the ninth with runners at the corners but Edwin Jackson came on and struck out Randal Grichuk to end the threat.

The Braves once again gave their starting pitcher an early run to work with as Adonis Garcia singled home Michael Bourn to stake Wisler to a 1-0 first inning lead. Atlanta added another run in the seventh when Todd Cunningham scored from second on an opposite field single by Bourn.

Wisler took care of the rest and evens his overall season record at 8-8 and lowers his ERA to 4.71. After struggling in August and early September, Wisler rallied to win his last three starts while going at least seven innings in each.

The Braves finish the season with a sweep and finish with a 67-95 record. It was a long and grueling summer, but at least they found a way to finish on a good note.
