Williams Pérez toed the rubber for the M-Braves and was excellent, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and no walks. He struck out six hitters and, to my utter and complete shock, got tons of ground balls. Pérez isn't a sexy prospect who will make scouts drool, but he could be another one of the seemingly never-ending run of decent or better arms that Atlanta's system produces for the big league club. J.R. Graham struggled in a relief appearance, as he was hit around for four hits and two earned runs and only recorded one out. An error didn't help things, but still--it wasn't good. Cedric Hunter and Barrett Kleinknecht each went yard for the M-Braves. Kyle Kubitza hit his eleventh triple of the year and also singled, although he did commit his 23rd error. Ryan Weber will pitch for Mississippi against Mobile tonight.
In other news, more of the injury variety, José Peraza will be sidelined for a bit, as he was placed on the DL with a groin strain yesterday.
Transaction just came down. Jose Peraza has been placed on the 7-day DL with a left groin strain, retroactive to August 14

Danville dropped the first game of their doubleheader against the M's, losing 3-1. Alec Grosser started on the mound for the D-Braves and allowed three runs on six hits and a pair of walks in five innings of work; it wasn't his best outing. Felix Marte walked two hitters without recording an out to follow Grosser, and Michael Flores pitched the final two innings without allowing a run. Danville's bats were mostly silent in this game, with Mike Dodig recording the only extra-base hit, a double. Omar Obregon had a two-hit game, and Braxton Davidson also singled. Ozhaino Albies was held hitless.
